The Rotting Zombie's News Anthology for Tuesday 10th October

I love October, Halloween is my favourite time of year, and is also when I get an influx of screeners to watch for review. On the day this post goes up  the annual 'Fortnitemares' event in Fortnite go live, hoping it's good!

Ghosts of the Void won the jury award for Scariest Feature Film at the ninth annual Popcorn Frights Film Festival. The film is about a young couple who are forced to spend the night in their car after they are evicted from their home. Things begin to get much worse for them with the arrival of a group of masked strangers. This comes from writer/director Jason Miller in his directorial debut, he said of his film "The driving force of this movie for me was to capture the anxiety and fears that so many of us experience as we struggle to find our footing in the world, and to express those feelings through my favourite genre, horror". Ghosts of the Void has been picked up by The Horror Collective for a release later this year.

House of Dolls is a new slasher that released on Cable VOD and Digital HD on October 3rd from VMI Releasing . It stars genre icon Dee Wallace (Red Christmas) and is about a reunion of three sisters that is interrupted by the arrival of a knife wielding madman. The film also stars Meeko Gattusso, Alicia Underwood, Taylor Cox, Trey Peyton, and Naomi Lopez.

Finally for today, experimental arthouse drama Three Mirrors Creature's Flashes of Flesh has its world premiere at Filmhuis Klappei in Antwerp, Belgium, on December 9th at 10:00, with free entry. This has a somewhat lengthy run time of seven hours and twenty two minutes (!), with its production lasting three years. The story is about a ruthless manager who goes on a voyage of self discovery after an emotional shock. It is the directorial debut of writer and cinematographer Giuliano Tomassacci who as described it as a 'semi-silent concert film with sporadic intertitles'. I don't mind arthouse in small doses, but this one may be a bit past my personal limits!
