Trivia are a Sunderland based punk duo whose debut EP released on 18th July. Impressively, the two members; Hannah Hays and Lydia Stubbs are young teenagers, 14 and 15 respectively. Home is the title of their debut, and features five tracks over 20 minutes. As always, no clue what I'm doing when it comes to music reviews, so don't expect Shakespeare here.
Titular track 'Home' opens up the EP. Four minutes of high energy pop punk which reminded me of the style of B*tch Alert. Next is 'Schizophrenia', an early contender for best track. This features three minutes of mildly snarling singing with a heavy drum beat that was literal music to the ears. Giving a bit of a Courtney Love sound is middle track 'Where Do You Go?', another good one, and another thundering drum beat. Penultimate track 'Fade' continues the blistering punk rock sound, until 'Tonight' closes out the EP. At five minutes, this last track did wear out its welcome somewhat due to the repetitive nature of it.
Trivia's debut EP Home was a good listen, with the three tracks in the middle especially good to hear. I enjoyed it, and at 20 minutes was a perfect length all in all. Trivia have recently been picked up by Serial Bowl Records who are releasing the EP as a CD.
