The Rotting Zombie's News Anthology for Thursday 7th September

This year has flown by, for today's post I originally intended to review a graphic novel, but that has been pushed slightly to next week now. In 'me' news, I received the Resident Evil board game, I like to paint the miniatures, so goodness knows when I will get to the latest ones as I am still painting the pieces from three board games back.

Disco Diablo is a new comedy horror podcast series going into pre-production, to be directed by Greg Tally and Halle Capone. Set during the disco era of the 1970s, the podcast series is about a group of dancers who have to infiltrate a sinister nightclub known as the titular Disco Diablo, in order to stop the evil plans of the demonic owner, and in the process save their souls from damnation.

While a re-edited version of Axeman At Cutter's Creek was released in 2021, the film was originally released in its default form in 2013. Now, some ten years later, a sequel to the entertaining slasher has came out, with the simple title of Axeman At Cutter's Creek 2. Coming in at a slim 79 minutes, this is available to rent and buy on Vimeo, and comes with an 'all-access pass' that includes the feature film, behind the scenes featurettes, deleted and extended scenes, as well as a digital Axeman At Cutter's Creek comic book. One of the things I most loved about the original was the ridiculous hulking slasher. Replaced here with WWE/WCW star Bryan Clark, I hope he leaves as much of an impression. Other actors include Farrah Abraham (MTV's Teen Mom TV show), Rachel Reilly (Big Brother TV show), Angelica Bridges (Baywatch), and Monique Parent.

Finally for today, supernatural horror film From The Shadows will open in five theatres around North America from September 22-28, with its official red carpet premiere taking place in Los Angeles on September 19th. The story sees a cult leader and most his followers dying in a mysterious fire. The five survivors, accused of being the ones responsible decide to try and find out what really caused it, and in the process become the target of a crazed killer. The cast include Bruce Davison (Ozark TV series), Selena Anduze (Wanda/Vision TV show), and the iconic Keith David (Nope, The Thing). From The Shadows won the Best Feature Award at The Horrorween Festival, was a finalist at The Stranger Days Horror Festival, and was an official selection at both the Phobia Film Festival in Missouri as well as The Port of Fear Film Festival in Kenosha, WI.
