To my shame, I have barely watched any of The Walking Dead spin-off shows, despite that mainline show being one of my favourites. I was then surprised to see that The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 3 is due to come to Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital on 16th November, as I never even knew it existed! Starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan, and Lauren Cohen as Maggie once again, this third season sees the two putting aside their differences to try and establish the first thriving community in New York since the zombie apocalypse began. Will their troubled shared past lead to disaster for the pair when threats appear in the city and their uneasy alliance is put to the test? In addition to the release of season 3, The Complete Series 1-3 Box Set is also to release.
Shudder Original film, V.H.S Mixtape is set to premiere on October 9th, the theme for this latest entry in the long running found footage anthology series is based around music and sound being the source of horror. One of the segments in the film, directed by Ernest Dickerson (tying into the previous news, he directed a bunch of episodes of The Walking Dead) is set to feature prolific horror actor Mike Ferguson. Other segments are by RZA, David Moreau, and an interesting sounding segment by Renee Zhan that uses creations carried out by Jim Henson's Creature Shop.
Finally for today, is news of Bag Lady, which the press release describes as '...They Live meets The Terminator'. Written and directed by Eric Jacobus, this short dystopian sci-fi creature feature is about two homeless men who discover a pair of special sunglasses that allow them to see that the local homeless population are being covertly replaced by androids. Joined by a corporate security guard, the three set out on a journey to stop this hidden takeover. One of the big draws here is that every main character is played by a stuntman, so expect some thrilling scenes. Bag Lady is planned to be made into a feature film.
